Update

Well, I keep meaning to start a blog about all the joys of owning a home that I have been experiencing and then continue to keep convincing myself that I will make sure that I keep a daily log. Yeah, that's probably not going to happen. I find myself exhausted at the end of everyday and somehow manage to pull myself out of bed every morning...at 7:30 no less (this is bad because I have to be to work by 8 and manage to get two resistant children up, fed, dressed, and to the daycare), just to do it all over again.

So, needless to say I am learning very quickly how much I probably took my parents and the joys of home-ownership for granted. Troy keeps asking my why we didn't buy a condo. The only answer I have for him, "I don't know." All that aside, we love our house and even though it's currently draining every ounce of energy we have I don't think that we would change it for the world.

We took on the task of planting a garden this year. Well...I talked while Troy did all the tilling, planting (in the rain no less), and has been much better at keeping up with the watering of it. I do my part though, I have done my fair share of weeding, with some supervision included, I go out almost every night and tell the plants how wonderful it is that they are doing so well, but honestly most of the garden credit goes to Troy. I think it's wonderful how he's just taken it on as his project. What do we have in our garden you ask? Oh lots and lots of goodies. This is quite the list:

Green Bell Peppers
Yellow Bell Peppers
Red Bell Peppers
Orange Bell Peppers
(we like a little color variety is all I can say to that)
Jalapeno peppers
Serrano peppers
7, yes 7, different tomato plants
zucchini
yellow squash
2 butternut squash
4 cucumbers (we cut one up tonight and it was sooo yummy)
romaine lettuce (more than I know what to do with)
cabbage
jack o'lantern pumpkin (I love this!)
and last but not least...watermelon

It's been really fun to see the plants grown and develop. It amazes me that when we look at the garden at lunch time there is the start of a little tomato or cucumber but when we get home and check them in the evening the little start has developed into some monstrosity, like in Little Shop of Horrors, and we just sit and awe and wonder what in the world we are going to do with all of this. Good thing that I have family and friends that I can pawn some of it off on. :)

I've tried to take pictures of the garden as it has grown. We've had a great time and get excited just thinking about all the wonderful things we want to plant next year.
